About us

In the last two years we have relocated to new premises under new management with a team of helpful, willing and fresh new team of staff and volunteers, we are now known as Barnsley Community Foundation with services including: Scooter and Wheelchair Hire.

ShopAbility was set up approximately 15 years ago under the name of Shopability as part of the Shopability Scheme which hundreds of other shops are associated with, We hire mobility scooters out on a daily basis to assist the elderly and disabled around town to do their shopping independently, this service started with 3 mobility scooters slowly expanding to the current number of 29 we have now. This service is vital to the community of Barnsley and has a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to assist the shop as well as other projects.

Our services provide independence to anyone, any age with any disabilities or struggles, whether you need help with your shopping, getting you to doctors appointments or just someone to talk to our services are available to you.
